A poignant project from one of our art students addressing the everyday lives of homeless people in Ashton.

Quote from the student:

“My art project is ‘everyday people’. In this project I focused on homeless people and how people dehumanise homeless people and discard them every day, not acknowledging them while walking past.  As I was taking my primary source photos, I give the homeless people prepared food packages in exchange for a photo and a talk about their life as a homeless person.”

An excellent example of an expressionistic portrait from one of our second year fine art students. It has got us really excited about seeing all the final pieces for this unit.

As both AS and A2 students are drawing to the end of the first unit of work for this year we are clearing out the storerooms to make way for the big hand in deadline. If there are any of last year's A2 students out there who have yet to collect their artwork, please do so before the end of January because we simply do not have the space to store it. Today, one of our ex-students came in to collect their artwork. We had been using one of their drawings as an example of good practice linking to the Ian Murphy inspired mixed media drawing techniques. We are sad to see the drawing go but we wish Stephen all the best in the future.
